11/11/2023 0 Comments Making minecraft tree leaf guideIf you’ve done everything correctly, your leaves should look a bit like below. Your big blob of unions should now look more like the leaves of a tree. It is recommended that you now also build or insert a dummy character so you can compare the tree its size with the dummy. Rotate the leaves around a bit, resize them (maybe even randomize the leaves a bit) and then put them together in a big blob. Depending on the tree you’re making, you should copy and paste your union a few times. This section of the tutorial is fairly simple. This is just personal preference and I won’t stop you from reading the next part of the tutorial below first. Although most people would start with building a tree’s trunks and branches, I personally prefer to start with the leaves. Now that one of the toughest parts (ha, get it?) is out of the way, it’s time to start with the tree itself. !(upload://mkwSafIYP16eXx020nLol7JDNB5.jpeg) After you’re done unioning, you should check the ‘UsePartColor’ property and change the union’s Material to Grass and its BrickColor to some greeny color, though this depends on what you want your tree to look like. As long as your shape looks like a blob you’re on the right path. You aren’t required to make such a shape, but it’s probably the easiest. If everything went well, you should have a union which looks like a semi-sphere. If that’s the case, no problem, you can still union everything together in chunks. If you try to union everything together at once, Roblox studio might not be able to solve the union. !(upload://eq7Nce9jA4dS8FJlEy8DThXWWiG.jpeg)Īlternatively, you can also use a few additional negative parts to fix small mistakes like the ones I made above. The reason why I personally like unioning everything together at once is so it’s less tedious and deunioning the union becomes easier in case you messed up something. You can easily select all of them at once by either boxing them or by shift clicking the top and bottom negative part in the explorer. You can now union these parts together and repeat these few steps over and over until you have a smooth union which looks a bit like a sphere. !(upload://jf4Je3H2h3vHV0uXHX4ighjwKmj.jpeg) Your situation should now look a bit like this: In order to do so, all you have to do is position one or multiple negative parts in such a way that it collides with the corner or a side of your Part. The next step is to chop of its corners and sides with quite a few negative parts (to get a negative part, select a normal part and click the ‘Negate Selection’ button in the toolbar, which has a blue icon). Your Part doesn’t have to be a cube with all sides being the same dimensions - in fact, I wouldn’t recommend it - but it should look like one. To start of, insert a Part, anchor it, make its sides smooth and resize it so it looks like a cube. Don’t worry about it, for the leaves I will use only one unique union. “But won’t make unions my game laggy?” That only happens if you have a lot of different unique unions. I’m therefore going to use unions for leaves. For this tutorial however, I’m going for a more cartoony style which fits the general Roblox theme. People who want trees in a more realistic style might take an approach like the game ‘The Legend of Zelda: The Skyward Sword’ did: Take a plane, make it transparent and put a texture on it. There are many different ways to build leaves. So, without holding you up any longer, let’s talk about trees. These are just some guidelines which may or may not be helpful to you. Just because I’m building things in a certain way or order doesn’t immediately mean it’s correct and if you think your own approach is better, feel free to disagree and follow your own path.
